USE CASE

The dental M&A market. Visible before the press release.

THE PROBLEM

Dental industry M&A activity is reported months after it happens — in trade publications, in SEC filings for public entities, or in post-deal press releases. By the time the news breaks, the opportunity to influence the transaction is gone.

THE SOLUTION

DDSIntel surfaces M&A signals at the entity filing layer — 30–90 days before announcements. Multi-practice acquisition patterns, new DSO holding structures, and UCC-1 lender assignments all appear in the DDSIntel feed before they appear anywhere else.

From signal to first call.

  1. 01 Entity Pattern Detection

New holding entities filed against multiple existing practice addresses simultaneously is the earliest M&A pattern — appearing when a consolidator begins the legal structuring phase of a multi-practice deal.

  2. 02 NPPES Cross-Reference

Multiple NPPES authorized official changes attributed to the same new entity within a 30-day window confirms a multi-practice acquisition in progress — the clearest M&A signal in the dataset.

  3. 03 DSO Graph Attribution

The acquiring entity is matched against the DDSIntel DSO graph. Known DSO identification elevates the signal and adds historical context: how many practices they've acquired, in which states, and at what cadence.

  4. 04 Deal Cluster Alert

You receive an M&A cluster alert: acquirer, number of practices involved, geographic spread, estimated deal size tier, and a linked event thread showing each individual practice in the transaction.

Questions about this use case.

How does DDSIntel define a dental M&A event vs. a single practice acquisition?

Single-practice acquisitions involve one practice changing ownership. M&A events are multi-practice transactions — three or more practices acquired by the same entity within a 90-day window, or a single transaction involving a dental group entity (an organization NPI with multiple affiliated providers). M&A events are flagged separately in the feed with a cluster view.

Can DDSIntel track dental M&A involving private equity-backed DSOs?

Yes, partially. PE-backed DSOs operate through intermediate holding entities that often appear in state SOS filings before any public announcement. DDSIntel flags new PE-related dental holding entities (identifiable from registered agent patterns, entity structure, and holding company naming conventions) and attributes them to known PE platforms where possible.
